I would like to ask how to calculate the heat exchanger residence time using HYSYS
It cannot be calculated, or the calculation is inaccurate; this function does not exist. Unless the shell side of your heat exchanger is a large tank, then it might be possible to use the dynamic + tracing method for calculation; as for whether the results will be accurate or not, that’s another matter. But if it’s just a large tank, it’s better to use vessel sizing for calculation, or to use formulas for a quicker result. If it’s on the tube side, once again, it’s better to use a formula for calculation, as that’s more accurate.
