However, when attempting to print them with CAD, it may happen that the machine cannot print directly. What is the reason for this? What should be done in such a situation? Let me give you a detailed introduction below! There are usually two ways to handle this: Method 1: Copy the DWG file, open it with HaoChen CAD, and then print the drawing. This approach requires the printer to be familiar with the printing settings, or for the page settings for printing to be saved in the drawing. It is also necessary that the CAD versions be the same, and that the font libraries and line styles be essentially identical as well. If one or two fonts are missing, or although the fonts are present their versions differ, question marks may appear during printing. Furthermore, different CAD versions may also result in varying text display effects, and even different CAD versions do not guarantee complete compatibility. Method 2: Use the printer driver on the local machine to print to a file, generate a PLT file, copy that PLT file, and then send it directly to the printer for printing. If there is a PLT file output tool, printing can also be done in batches. This method has a relatively low error rate, requires little from the person responsible for printing, and no CAD skills are needed. It’s a bit more troublesome for those who do drawing; they need to install the printer driver of the same model (it’s best to use a driver of the exact same model). PLT files can also be generated using drivers of different models, but this isn’t guaranteed to work perfectly – issues such as missing or extra lines may occur. By using the normal printing settings and checking the option “Print to file”, it’s possible to output a PLT file. For those who need to print, the simplest approach is to find a PLT printing tool; some plotter manufacturers provide such tools, for example OCE, which allows for batch output of PLT files, as well as previewing and checking these files. Haocheng CAD provides a PLT output tool in its extension tools. Even without a PLT printing tool, it is possible to send the printer file to the printer using DOS’s copy command; the command is: copy <printer file> prn /b. It should be noted that in order to use this function, it is necessary first to add the driver for a specific model of printer from another computer to the system and set it as the default printer. Additionally, be sure to include the /b option at the end of the COPY command to indicate that the printer file should be sent to the printer in binary format. Note: In fact, other software such as WORD can also print to a file, which can then be sent to the printing port via copying. The specific method to use depends on the actual circumstances; if you go to another printing shop to print the drawings, the CAD software version, fonts, fill settings, line styles, and other related files on the computer there must be exactly the same as those on yours. Then you just need to copy the DWG file over, open it in CAD, and proceed with setting it up and printing it. (If your machine has the same drivers, you can save the page settings on your own machine; when opening a DWG file on another machine, you can simply click “Print”). If you have it printed at your organization’s printing room or by someone else, it is best to use a PLT file. If DWG files must be used, first make sure that the CAD version on those machines is the same as yours, and that they also have the fonts and other relevant data used in the drawings. It’s best to set the page settings and save them; there’s no need for the other party to do any adjustments. They can simply open the file and click “Print”, then click “OK” in the printing dialog box. It’s troublesome if there are multiple frames to print in a model space, even if you have saved the page settings, as the recipient will have to select each one individually. In short, the more others are allowed to operate, the higher the chance of errors. (Unless you don’t know how to set up printing yourself!) ) If you need to go to a printing shop for printing, use a PLT file preferentially. It can be troublesome if you don’t know the other party’s printer model in advance. If the image size is not large, you can first output it as a high-resolution raster image, such as in JPG or PDF format. If the format is quite large and only DWG files can be used, it’s best to prepare thoroughly by including all relevant files such as fonts and images associated with the DWG drawings. If there are external references, it is best to bind them into blocks first. Therefore, when creating CAD print drawings, it is necessary to choose the appropriate printing method based on one’s own needs. Of course, the first step is to identify the reasons why printing is not possible, so that appropriate solutions can be applied.
