When using the Haochen CAD drawing software to create drawings, external references are sometimes inserted into the CAD drawings. Once external references have been inserted, how should these inserted reference base maps be used? Let’s go over it in detail next! The usage of reference base maps in CAD software is as follows: Reference base maps are similar to attached raster images; both provide visual content and also support object capture and clipping. Unlike external references, a reference base map cannot be bound to a drawing. The following file types can be used as reference base maps: DWF – DWF (Web Graphics Format) files are highly compressed file formats created from DWG files. DWFx – DWFx (a more advanced version of DWF) is based on Microsoft’s XML drawing format (XPS). PDF - A document exchange format for Adobe systems. DGN - The Microstation format of the Bentley system. DGN only supports V7/V8 DGN files and 2D objects. 2D objects are entered or attached along with their complete (X,Y,Z) coordinate information, as if such information already existed in the original file. If the file contains 3D solids, surfaces, or other 3D objects, a warning will be displayed. This content is not supported in this document. Use the ribbon context tabs to work with reference basemaps. If a reference basemap is selected while the ribbon is active, the “DWF Reference Basemap” ribbon context tab, the “PDF Reference Basemap” ribbon context tab, or the “DGN Reference Basemap” ribbon context tab will be displayed, depending on the type of reference basemap selected. The Context tab contains options for adjusting, cropping, and displaying the reference base map. The ribbon context tab closes automatically after the reference base map is deselected.
