When using the Haochen CAD software to create architectural drawings, external references are often needed. When the original file referenced is updated, the CAD drawing software will display a reload dialog box. If there are many CAD external reference drawings inserted, and these original reference files are frequently modified and saved, without wanting to be prompted to reload them each time, and one wants to reload them all after some time has passed, how can they do that? Next, I’ll share with you a CAD tutorial on completely reloading and binding external references in CAD drawing software! I. How to reload all references in CAD software? If multiple CAD reference files are modified, the CAD drawings that need to be reloaded will be displayed in the External Reference Manager. Select the drawing that needs to be reloaded, right-click on it, and then choose “Reload” from the right-click menu, as shown in the figure below. Following our usual way of thinking, after selecting the current drawing at the bottom of the list and right-clicking, there should be an option to reload everything. However, no options appear when right-clicking. So what method can be used to reload all external references without having to right-click on each reference that needs to be refreshed? Actually, there are several methods, and I’ll briefly introduce them below so you can see which one you prefer to use: 1. Right-click in the blank area of the External Reference Manager dialog box; the option to reload all references is located at the top of the right-click menu, as shown in the figure below. 2. At the top of the external reference manager, click the arrow behind the \"Refresh\" button; the option to \"Reload all references\" is also hidden there. 3. Right-click on the icon for managing external references in the status bar at the bottom, and select “Reload DWG External References”. 4. Enter -XREF and press Enter to enter the command-line mode for the external reference command; enter R and press Enter, and the command line will prompt you to enter the reference name – enter * and press Enter. It is also possible to reload all external references, as shown in the figure below. As for which method to choose, it depends on whether the external reference manager is already open, as well as on which one you prefer. II. How to bind all references in CAD software? Sometimes, a single drawing contains a dozen or even hundreds of various reference drawings, and there may be multiple layers of nesting. When the drawing is finally archived or submitted to the client, it is necessary to bind all these external references together. The function for binding them all is harder to find in the CAD interface. It is possible to easily bind all the drawings using CAD; the two methods known so far are as follows: 1. Right-click in an empty area of the External Reference Manager, then select “Select All” to choose all external references at once. After that, right-click again and select “Bind” to bind all of them simultaneously. If the external reference is displayed in a tree structure, right-clicking on an empty area does not have a \"Select All\" option, as shown in the figure below. To select all, the external references must be displayed in list form. 2. Enter -XREF and press Enter to confirm, enter B for binding and press Enter to confirm, then enter * and press Enter to confirm; this will bind all external references.
