When using CAD building software to create drawings, many designers use millimeters as the unit of measurement, but when calculating room areas they prefer to use meters. This leads to the need for unit conversion. Many beginners in CAD drawing are very interested in knowing how to quickly convert CAD areas Although using CAD directly to calculate areas does not allow for unit adjustment, the HaoChen CAD software provides tools for converting units. Select Fill, press CTRL+1 to open the Properties panel, and find CAD Area. In the HaoChen CAD property panel, click on the area text box; a calculator icon will appear afterward. By clicking this icon, you can open the quick calculator built into HaoChen CAD. Find “Unit Conversion” below the numbers and operators on the calculator, and click to expand the parameters related to “Unit Conversion”. Click on “Length”; a dropdown list will appear. Select “Area” from this list, set the unit of conversion to square millimeters, and set the target unit to meters. By clicking this button, the converted value will be displayed in the input box above, while the formula used for the calculation will be shown at the top. We can use this value for other calculations. Conversions from square millimeters to square meters can be calculated mentally, and calculators can be used to perform conversions that are not possible by mental calculation, such as those from square millimeters to square feet. The quick calculator in HaoChen CAD can be opened not only from the property panel but also directly; it can be accessed by entering the ‘quickcalc’ command and pressing Enter, or by using CTRL+8. Of course, it can also be opened through the tool menu and panels. This CAD tutorial focuses on using a calculator to convert units and calculate areas in CAD.
