I have been using Aspen to simulate a stripping column recently, with the Radfrac module, to remove formaldehyde from glycerol through saturated vapor stripping. Without a reboiler or condenser, the feed temperature is 100 degrees at atmospheric pressure, and 143 degrees for 4 kilograms of steam. The tower is also operated at atmospheric pressure; then why are the temperatures at the top and bottom of the tower both over 150 degrees according to the calculations? Higher than the temperature of the material? Without a reboiler, where does the heat to raise the temperature come from? The version is too high to be opened. Based on your parameters and temperature, I’ve done the calculations myself; the inlet and outlet values won’t exceed 150 – they’ll be around 130 instead.
