Question: When two reaction kettles are arranged close to each other, can they share the beam in between? What should be done if the width of the beam designed is too small and the support surface of the brackets is insufficient?
For steel beams, the flanges are widened through welds, and stiffening ribs are added to the web; however, for 40-ton equipment, the torsional stress calculations for such beams will definitely not meet the requirements, and problems may also arise during installation.
I have done this before as well; as long as the spacing is sufficient, the structural engineering team will calculate the dimensions of the beams
Option 1: With the distance between the kettles being so close, it’s a bit difficult to reinforce the crossbeams. If conditions permit, consider adding a column below for support. Option 2: Add a steel structural frame around the concrete frame (this is not very difficult) to distribute the weight of the hanging elements in the middle

For large kettles, a legged design that is supported on the ground can be considered.
