When using EDR to analyze the existing inverted shell-and-tube heat exchangers (evaporators) in the plant, the following issues were encountered; I would like to seek advice from experts: 1) If steam is chosen to flow through the shell side, a red alarm appears – indicating an error in the hot-side input; 2) A kettle-type heat exchanger was selected, but I couldn’t find where to choose an inverted type.

Okay, thank you~ Regarding the red alarm issue: When no information is entered and only the heat exchanger type NKN is selected, the system defaults to assuming that the hot fluid flows through the tube side. If the shell side is forced to be selected, an error will occur. I still haven’t found an inverted kettle-type heat exchanger. Thank you for the reminder; I’ll consult the EDR manufacturer later to see if it’s an inverted NKN type. I’m planning to try other software.
