Opening of the High-End Forum on Green Hydrogen and Liquid Sun Methanol Author/Source: Sinochem New Network Date: October 20, 2020 Clicks: 31 On October 16, the “High-End Forum on Green Hydrogen and Liquid Sun Methanol” was held in Lanzhou New Area. 18 academicians from within the country, along with over a hundred renowned experts and scholars, gathered together to share their insights. Through keynote speeches and discussions, they explored the key issues and latest developments in the field of green energy in the new era, delving into topics such as renewable energy, hydrogen energy, methanol applications, and the development of emerging green industries, thereby providing impetus for the future development of Lanzhou New Area. Li Peixing, vice governor of Gansu Province, noted that the industrial demonstration project for synthesizing methanol from carbon dioxide and hydrogen paves the way for the use of renewable energy in the production of liquid fuels. It is the world’s first project for synthesizing liquid solar fuel with the lowest catalytic costs and superior technical specifications, and it holds great practical significance for improving the global climate and ensuring energy security. The operation of this project in Lanzhou New Area marks the fact that the Chinese Academy of Sciences is at the forefront of research and application in this field, establishing a new level of innovative cooperation between Lanzhou New Area and top-tier research institutions as well as renowned academicians and experts. More than 400 people attended the opening ceremony of the forum, including experts, professors, and entrepreneurs from key institutions such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, LONGi Green Energy Technology, and Shanghai Bohydro, as well as renowned enterprises. There were also officials from the Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Dongying Municipal Political Consultative Conference, Xintai City’s relevant departments, and the Gansu Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Industry and Information Technology, Department of Ecology and Environment, and Zhangye City’s relevant departments. Representatives from domestic associations, financial institutions, and enterprises were also present.
