The first phase of Baofeng Energy’s hydrogen production project through water electrolysis will come online by the end of the year. According to the Ningxia Autonomous Region Department of Commerce, on October 13, 2020, at the construction site of Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group Co., Ltd.’s demonstration project for solar water electrolysis for hydrogen production, energy storage, and comprehensive applications, workers were busy adjusting and assembling the equipment in an orderly manner. In a little over two months, the first phase of this world’s largest integrated solar-powered electrolysis hydrogen production project will be officially completed and put into operation. The hydrogen produced by Baofeng Energy’s integrated solar-powered water electrolysis hydrogen production project will, on the one hand, be integrated seamlessly with the company’s existing coal chemical facilities; part of this hydrogen will be supplied directly to the methanol production units, thereby helping to reduce costs and improve efficiency while also contributing to energy savings and emission reduction. On the other hand, by integrating the urban hydrogen-powered demonstration bus routes in Yinchuan, the hydrogen-powered commuter buses and new-energy buses in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base, as well as enterprise-owned hydrogen-powered commuter buses, hydrogen-powered trucks, and hydrogen-powered buses, an integrated approach to \"green hydrogen\" utilization can be achieved – covering solar hydrogen production and storage, the production of high-end chemical materials through integration with modern coal chemical processes, hydrogen storage and transportation, and the use of hydrogen across the entire value chain. The Ningxia Baofeng Integrated Solar Water Electrolysis for Hydrogen Production, Energy Storage and Comprehensive Application Demonstration Project commenced construction on April 17, 2020, with 11th Construction Engineering Company as the contractor. The project mainly includes a hydrogen production plant, a control room, a hydrogen compressor plant and storage tanks, a tank truck loading station, pipelines for transporting hydrogen and oxygen, as well as utility systems. The construction period is from April 15, 2020, to December 31, 2020.
