On December 10, 2020, the working meeting of the Commodity Ammonia Subcommittee of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, organized by the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association and co-organized by Yuntianhua Group and Yunnan Hengrun Economic and Trade Co., Ltd., was successfully held in Kunming, the Spring City. Gu Zongqin, President of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association; Cui Zhouquan, General Manager and Deputy Party Secretary of Yunnan Yuntianhua Co., Ltd.; Liang Hong, Party Secretary and Executive Director of Yunnan Shuifu Yuntianhua Co., Ltd.; Miao Yuanlin, General Manager of Yunnan Hengrun Economic and Trade Co., Ltd., and other leaders attended the event. More than 100 people participated in the meeting, including representatives from ammonia synthesis manufacturers, trading companies, upstream and downstream enterprises, as well as industry experts. The meeting was chaired by Wang Liqing, Secretary-General of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association. President Gu Zongqin delivered a keynote speech at the conference titled “Striving to Create a New Landscape for the Commodity Ammonia Market”. He reviewed the economic performance of the national synthetic ammonia and nitrogen fertilizer industry from January to October, pointing out that profits in the nitrogen fertilizer sector had declined, product prices had dropped significantly on a year-on-year basis, and the economic situation had continued to weaken over the previous period ; However, both the production and exports of synthetic ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers increased on a year-on-year basis. From January to October 2020, the country produced a total of 51.821 million tons of synthetic ammonia, representing a 6.53% increase compared to the previous year. The production of nitrogen fertilizers amounted to 34.541 million tons, with a 2.9% increase on a year-on-year basis. It is estimated that the annual production of synthetic ammonia will reach 61.4 million tons, reflecting a 6.88% increase. Regarding the future trend of the ammonia synthesis market, he said that since October, driven by factors such as tenders in India, environmental-related production shutdowns at staggered times, urea exports, and winter stockpiling of fertilizers, the price of commercial ammonia has started to rise, and the market is expected to remain favorable in the future. As the trade volume of commercial ammonia increases year by year, taking into account the specific characteristics of the commercial ammonia market as well as the problems and weaknesses in the nitrogen fertilizer industry, President Gu put forward several requirements for the future work in this sector: first, to strengthen the safety management of the storage and transportation of commercial ammonia; second, to standardize quality management throughout the entire production, transportation, and sales chain; third, to develop a system for tracking commercial ammonia; fourth, to conduct more research on the demand for commercial ammonia; and fifth, to improve the coordination between supply and demand and provide better information services. At this conference, Cao Zhanggao, the chief engineer of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, was invited to explain the policies for addressing air pollution during the autumn and winter of 2020. Wang Zhen, a senior expert from the China Chemical Safety Association, shared insights on the situation regarding the safety management of hazardous chemicals and its impact on the commodity ammonia industry. Zhang Feng, secretary-general of the Commodity Ammonia Branch of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, presented an analysis of the trends in the domestic commodity ammonia market in 2020 as well as forecasts for the future. Wei Yong, director of the Market and Information Department of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, provided an analysis of the trends in the urea and methanol markets in 2020 along with predictions for the coming period. Ju Hao, a lead analyst at CRU (Beijing) Consulting Co., Ltd., analyzed the international synthetic ammonia market. Han Yueming from the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association discussed changes in the demand structure for commodity ammonia, while Wen Qian, deputy director of the Petroleum and Chemical Planning Institute, gave a report on the demand for commodity ammonia in industries such as caprolactam and acrylonitrile, which are downstream products of synthetic ammonia. In the afternoon, the conference invited experts from the power, cement, and steel industries, which are downstream users of synthetic ammonia, to share insights on the operational status of these industries as well as the demand for synthetic ammonia. Representatives from key enterprises are requested to introduce respectively the supply and demand situation, market trends, and trade patterns of synthetic ammonia in the Southwest, Hunan-Hubei, and East China regions. Gao Li, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, introduced the background and content of the group standard \"Classification, Evaluation Methods and Requirements for Liquid Anhydrous Ammonia\", and sought opinions from the attendees. The meeting also approved the proposal to appoint Zheng Zhaohui, head of the Operations Management Department at Yunnan Yuntianhua Co., Ltd., as vice president of the Commodity Ammonia Subcommittee of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association. On December 11, the participating delegates were taken to the production sites of products such as synthetic ammonia and ammonium phosphate at Yunnan Tianan Chemical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Yuntianhua Group.
