Special demonstration meetings were organized to conduct a thorough review and evaluation of the feasibility study reports for the platform-based project for the ethylene glycol production unit at Longyu Coal Chemical, the technical upgrade project to add additional gasification furnaces, and the project aimed at producing 320,000 tons per year of liquid ammonia from process exhaust gases as well as carrying out comprehensive utilization of carbon. After in-depth discussions by the expert group, it was unanimously agreed that the feasibility reports for the three projects passed the evaluation. The ethylene glycol plant platformization project takes advantage of the existing plant capacity and supporting utility infrastructure. The newly added backup gasification furnace is compatible with the existing Shell and Wuhuan furnace operating systems, enabling the establishment of a stable production setup featuring \"multiple furnaces operating in conjunction as backups for one another\". The project for producing 320,000 tons per year of liquid ammonia from process exhaust gases and for the comprehensive utilization of carbon involves converting the process exhaust gases and vented nitrogen from coal chemical plants into liquid ammonia. Meanwhile, the carbon dioxide exhaust gases emitted by these plants are used to produce industrial-grade ammonium bicarbonate, with steam being generated as a by-product. This approach enables the resourceful, low-carbon, and sustainable utilization of process exhaust gases, as well as the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. The project produces 320,000 tons of liquid ammonia and 400,000 tons of ammonium bicarbonate per year. COSMIC LONG March Company has won the bid for the project to convert waste gas from Henan Longyu’s manufacturing processes into liquid ammonia. Henan Longyu Coal Chemical’s existing facilities consist of Phase I, which uses Shell gasification to produce 500,000 tons of methanol and 200,000 tons of dimethyl ether; it came online in 2008. Phase 2 will use a five-ring furnace, with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of acetic acid and 200,000 tons of ethylene glycol; it is scheduled to come online in 2016. At the end of 2017, the Shell gasifier and the Wuhuan furnace were operated in conjunction. In 2020, another 200,000-ton ethylene glycol plant was built using excess syngas. In 2022, a 10,000-ton/year acetic acid to acetonitrile production project was built using the ammoniated acetic acid method.
