I always thought the red line was for the filling cycle, but my supervisor told me it’s used for filling the pump? How do I fill this line? Don’t quite understand? Does anyone else use this method to fill the pump? Could you explain it?
A high liquid level can also be used to feed the pump; actually, it is mainly used to adjust the reflux ratio. You didn’t draw the discharge line. There’s nothing worth keeping about such technology; you’d better get ready to pay for it.

Search on the forum; there should be similar answers. My understanding: For pumps used to transfer liquid materials, running them without any liquid will damage the pump, right? So water is poured into the pump, flowing in the direction of the inlet; but what about the outlet direction? Is it dry? The water also needs to be poured in.
Check whether the outlet of the red line is connected to the reflux tank or to the inlet pipeline of the reflux tank; I think this line is either used for filling the pump or during single-unit testing
This red line can also be used during a very special period: when the pressure and temperature at the top of the tower are low, the amount of reflux required is small, the liquid level in the reflux tank is low and large amounts of liquid cannot be sent out, it is not possible to stop the pumps frequently, and yet the minimum flow rate required by the pumps must still be met.
If it is much smaller in diameter compared to the main export pipe, we call it the minimum return line.
Learn about the check valve at the pump outlet; priming the pump involves filling the pump chamber with the medium before starting it up, in order to prevent air lock. It doesn’t make sense from a procedural standpoint! Moreover, the return point is above the reflux tank; if the liquid level in the reflux tank is too high, it will affect the quality of the product obtained!
The flowchart is not detailed enough; it is not clear whether there is a flow control valve at the pump outlet. When operating the storage tank after condensation at the top of the tower, is operation carried out in a full-phase mode or with level control? Based on this diagram alone, the red line serves two purposes: first, to control the backflow at the pump outlet, and second, for venting – that is, to remove the gas phase from the pump. This helps to balance the pressure between the storage tank after condensation and the pressure inside the tower, thereby establishing the material level in the tank. Only with detailed procedures and information on the properties of the raw materials can the process parameters be analyzed properly
Such a process works fine for filling the pump; the issue is how to remove the material from the pipelines after filling them, so that it doesn’t remain inside the pipelines. In my opinion, connecting the red horizontal line to the pump’s inlet pipeline should suffice to meet all the requirements.
