The combination of SiO2 and Al2O3 in coal ash to form eutectics reduces the melting point of the ash slag. Could someone please explain why this is the case?
What are the main components of the ash? There are many phases of alumina, and these become more stable as the temperature rises. Silicon dioxide is added primarily to form solid solutions that facilitate doping and reduce bond energy. Is that what you mean?
