The plant stores hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid at different concentrations. There is no dispute that 98% sulfuric acid is definitely stored in carbon steel tanks; but what types of materials can be used for tanks and pipes for sulfuric acids of other concentrations? Please give me some advice. Is glass fiber reinforced plastic with hydrochloric acid okay? Is it cost-effective?
There is absolutely no problem using fiberglass reinforced plastic for hydrochloric acid; it can generally last 8-10 years, offering a good cost-performance ratio. Fiberglass reinforced plastic can be used for pipes as well. For sulfuric acid, fiberglass-reinforced plastic can be used for concentrations of 75% or less; for concentrated sulfuric acid, carbon steel or composite tanks are required.
