There is a small unit here equipped with one RO membrane. When it was tested without the RO membrane in place, the flow rate at the outlet of the raw water pump was around 9 cubic meters per unit time. The concentrated water stream is divided into two branches: one flows back to the water tank, and the other flows back before the high-pressure pump. The flow rate of the water flowing back to the water tank is around 7 cubic meters per unit time, while that flowing back before the high-pressure pump is around 9 cubic meters per unit time. The flow rate of the purified water produced is 1.2 cubic meters per unit time. What I want to know is why the total flow rate of these two concentrated water streams plus the flow rate of the purified water is so much higher than the flow rate at the outlet of the raw water pump Or should I not calculate it this way?
What flows back to the pump is the circulation volume, not the actual amount of water that enters or leaves; the amounts that enter and leave can only be considered as the total volume of water exchanged. For example, if there is a circulation pump in an aquarium with a flow rate of 50 L per hour, and 1 L of water is added daily along with 1 L of wastewater removed daily, let’s see if it’s possible to achieve balance.
