Fixed-bed reactors are more important than tubular reactors and batch reactors; then why do textbooks focus on the latter?

It is thought that the latter approach might be easier to apply to the three basic models that are easy to solve: plug-flow reactors, fully mixed reactors, and batch reactors; these can be solved using the mathematical knowledge of advanced mathematics available to typical undergraduate engineering students. Solving for fixed-bed reactors may require mathematical knowledge of numerical analysis
I’m not sure which textbook Professor Liang is referring to. From my personal perspective as someone who uses such equipment, the process parameters for fixed-bed reactors are essentially fixed once the design conditions are determined; in contrast, tubular and batch reactors are more versatile. Additionally, considerations include investment costs as well as the ratio of the effective volume of the equipment to its external volume
