According to clause 7.2.2 of SH3210, in the event of a fire, the insulating material must remain effective at 904°C and not burn or fall off within 2 hours. What materials can meet such requirements? Has anyone used them?
Currently, there are some high-temperature resistant insulating materials available on the market that can meet such requirements. For example: 1. High-temperature resistant ceramic fiber products: The ceramic fiber components used for furnace roofs, furnace walls, furnace doors, and furnace bottoms can be used for extended periods in environments above 900°C, meeting the requirements of Section 7.2.2 of SH3210 ; 2. High-temperature calcium silicate insulation boards: This is a new type of fire-resistant insulating material that not only offers excellent insulating properties but also remains stable under high temperatures. 3. Dolomite insulation board: It does not suffer from sintering or softening after long-term use in an environment of 1000°C. Under fire conditions, these materials effectively protect equipment from thermal damage, and they have a long fire resistance duration, lasting over 2 hours. The specific properties of each material may vary depending on the manufacturer and product model; it is best to contact the supplier directly to make a choice based on actual needs. .
I’ve learned it now; I originally thought that as long as the insulation was intact, it would be fine. There are data in the appendix of GB 50264-2013, the Design Code for Thermal Insulation of Industrial Equipment and Piping, which can be consulted.

Aluminum silicate cotton is a fire-resistant insulation material used for insulating the boiler shell and pipelines; it can withstand temperatures of up to 900°C for 2 hours. (There was once an instance when insulation material fell into a furnace at 900–950°C, burned there for a long time, got stuck in the slag discharge pipe, and forced a shutdown of the furnace.) )
