A review meeting was held recently at Aerospace Changzheng Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. for the 60% three-dimensional model of the gasification unit in Phase 1 of Stage 2 of Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemistry Co., Ltd.’s 15 million tons per year demonstration project for the clean and efficient conversion of coal on a differentiated basis. Relevant chemical project teams from Yulin, along with external technical experts, participated together in a combination of online and offline sessions to conduct in-depth discussions on aspects such as the quality of plant design and project progress, thereby removing key technical obstacles to the subsequent implementation of the project. Adhering to the principle of \"thorough and meticulous examination,\" the review process employs a comprehensive screening approach that covers each unit, each piece of equipment, and each pipeline, ensuring full coverage of key areas such as equipment, pipelines, civil works, electrical and instrumentation systems, as well as water supply and drainage systems. Special attention was paid to the rationality of the design in key areas such as powder production, gasification frameworks, and slag treatment. By examining four aspects – compliance with process specifications, risk of spatial collisions, construction feasibility, and ease of operation and maintenance – a total of 168 optimization suggestions were put forward to enable proactive control of technical risks. After thorough discussion, all parties present agreed that the current model fully meets the requirements of this stage, that the design progress has achieved the desired goals, and expressed high approval of the design outcomes already obtained. The review experts also put forward constructive suggestions on equipment layout and corridor optimization, taking into account the actual conditions of the project. The successful completion of this model review marks an important milestone in the design of the gasification unit. The project team will fully implement the feedback received, continue to optimize the design, maintain strict quality controls, and strive to ensure high-quality progress on the project, thereby further strengthening Yulin Chemical’s technical leadership and industry influence in the field of clean and efficient coal utilization. The first phase of the second phase of the Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical project utilizes space furnace gasification to produce 5.6 million tons per year of methanol, 1.5 million tons per year of methanol-to-olefins products, 300,000 tons per year of polyethylene (FDPE), and 300,000 tons per year of polypropylene (PP). The 15 million tons per year demonstration project for the clean and efficient conversion of coal based on differentiated treatment, carried out by Shaanxi Coal Group Lin Chemical Co., Ltd., makes full use of the abundant coal resources in the Yulin region. With \"technology for differentiated coal utilization\" as its core, it combines modern coal chemical processes with various compounds from petrochemical industries through two pathways: coal-to-olefins and coal-to-aromatics. This approach extends the industrial chain, resulting in the production of 45 different products across 4 categories, including high-value-added materials, biodegradable materials, battery electrolyte solvents, and special oils. Upon completion of the entire project, it is expected to generate annual sales revenue of 134 billion yuan, annual profits of over 30 billion yuan, and create more than 7,000 job opportunities. The 15 million tons per year demonstration project for the clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products by Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. is currently the coal chemical project with the largest single-investment amount. The total investment in the chemical processing facilities amounts to 176 billion yuan. Building on the first phase of the project, this initiative relies on coal pyrolysis, coal tar hydrogenation, and pulverized coke gasification technologies as key elements. By integrating these technologies along with downstream processing methods, it aims to further expand and extend the industrial chain, and to explore new pathways for the combined development of coal-based olefins and coal-based aromatics. The end product will be a range of chemical substances such as polyolefins, polyesters, polycarbonates, polyether polyols, EVA, POE, SAP, DMC, DEC, EMC, and EC. It is estimated that the annual sales revenue will exceed 90 billion yuan. The first phase of the second stage of the 15 million tons per year demonstration project for the clean and efficient conversion of coal into different products by Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. covers an area of approximately 9,200 mu, with an estimated total investment of around 62 billion yuan. Upon completion of the project, it is expected to generate annual sales revenue of 20.7 billion yuan and after-tax profits of 3.3 billion yuan. This project was included in the **13th Five-Year Plan for Energy Development** and the **13th Five-Year Plan for Demonstration of Advanced Coal Processing Industries**, and is to be constructed in two phases. Phase 1 has already seen the construction of an ethylene glycol plant with a capacity of 1.8 million tons per year and a coal pyrolysis plant with a capacity of 1.2 million tons per year; a DMC plant with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year is currently under construction ; The second phase of the plan involves the construction of facilities for the production of olefins, aromatics, and products derived from their further processing. By making efficient use of coal through proper sorting and grading, this project will produce key platform products such as olefins, aromatics, and base oils. Further processing will then enable the production of four categories of end products with high added value: materials for use in batteries, solvents for battery electrolytes, biodegradable materials, and special types of oils, thereby achieving coordinated development between coal chemical industry and petroleum chemical industry.
