On November 20, the EPC general contracting for the EVA unit of Phase 1 of the olefins, aromatics and deep processing project under Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 15 million tons per year demonstration project for clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products – [2nd bidding round]. Scope of bidding: This bidding project is divided into 1 bid section. The scope of this project includes: a compression unit, a polymerization unit, high and low pressure cycle gas treatment units, an extrusion granulation unit, a pellet handling and conveying unit, storage units for raw materials and auxiliary materials, an initiator treatment unit, an initiator preparation and injection unit, a VA refining/recycling/drying system, a vehicle loading and unloading unit, a hot water treatment unit, an absorption chiller unit, a control room, a power transformation and distribution room, a wastewater collection unit, plant utility tunnels, and various supporting auxiliary facilities. Planned overall start date: January 15, 2026 ; Planned start date on site: April 1, 2026 ; Overall intermediate handover date: August 30, 2028. Project Overview: The 15 million tons per year demonstration project for the clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products by Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd., including the production of olefins, aromatics, and other products through advanced processing techniques (hereinafter referred to as the “Phase II project”), builds upon the capabilities of Phase I. It involves the integrated use of coal pyrolysis, coal/semi-coke gasification, and downstream processing technologies in order to further expand and extend the industrial chain. This approach aims to explore new pathways for the combined development of coal-based olefins and coal-based aromatics, with the goal of producing four categories of high-value products such as high-performance materials, battery electrolyte solvents, biodegradable materials, and special oils. Such efforts contribute to the advancement of the coal chemical industry toward higher quality, greater diversity, and lower carbon emissions. Following the principle of \"overall planning and phased implementation,\" the Phase 2 project is divided into Phase 2, Stage 1 projects and subsequent projects. The facilities to be constructed in the first phase include an air separation unit with an oxygen production capacity of 500,000 Nm3/h, units for the gasification and purification of gases at a rate of 1.52 million Nm3/h (H2+CO), a methanol synthesis plant with an annual capacity of 5.6 million tons, plants for converting methanol into olefins and for separating olefins with an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons each, a facility for producing FDPE at an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, a polypropylene plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, an acrylic acid production plant with an annual capacity of 90,000 tons, a high-absorbency resin production plant with an annual capacity of 40,000 tons, an EVA production plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, a vinyl acetate production plant with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons, and an electrolysis unit for producing hydrogen from water at a rate of 12,000 Nm3/h. Additionally, there are supporting utility systems and auxiliary facilities, including a power station composed of 3 x 1,250 t/h supercritical reheated coal-fired boilers and 3 x 150 MW supercritical extraction back-pressure steam turbine generators. It mainly produces chemical products such as polyethylene, polypropylene, acrylic acid, methanol, SAP, and EVA, thereby facilitating the advanced, diversified, and low-carbon development of the coal chemical industry.
