The design work for the supporting Turpan Industrial Park associated with Saiding Design’s 2.4 million-ton coal-based ethylene glycol project has commenced. Recently, the preliminary design and construction drawings for the Coal-Based New Materials Circular Industrial Park project, which is part of the comprehensive infrastructure improvement initiative in the Turpan Economic Development Zone of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, were reviewed at Sinochem Saiding’s Xinjiang branch. The kick-off meeting marks the official commencement of the project design work. On April 11, 2025, the government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region approved the expansion of the Turpan Economic Development Zone, adopting a \"one park and five zones\" layout with a total area of 22.85 square kilometers, of which the Coal-Based New Materials Circular Industry Park covers 4 square kilometers. On June 20, the Autonomous Region’s Department of Industry and Information Technology approved the establishment of a new chemical industry cluster, providing policy support for the development of this project; Saiding Company was tasked with designing 13 individual infrastructure components as part of this project. During the meeting, the project design manager provided a detailed presentation on the aspects related to the design task, covering key information such as the scope of the design, objectives, as well as the main challenges and difficulties, thereby enabling all parties to gain a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the project design. Subsequently, representatives from all parties had lively discussions on various design principles and options, and after thorough exchange and communication, they reached a consensus, laying a solid foundation for the efficient progress of subsequent design work. Qian Yi, deputy general manager of Hengyi Energy Technology (Turpan) Co., Ltd., introduced the progress of the coal-based ethylene glycol project. At present, the project is progressing steadily as planned, with all preliminary tasks being carried out in an orderly manner. The Coal-Based New Materials Circular Industry Park in Turpan Economic Development Zone is one of the core components of Turpan’s \"one zone and five parks\" development framework (with a planned area of 4 square kilometers). Leveraging the local Aiding Lake coal resources, it focuses on the development of coal-based new materials and coal chemical circular industries; for example, Hengyi Group’s 2.4 million tons per year coal-to-ethylene glycol project has been established in this park, with a total investment of 25.7 billion yuan. The park provides essential infrastructure such as roads, energy supply, and environmental protection services for the enterprises engaged in coal-based new materials production, serving as a prerequisite for the operation of future industrial projects.
