Meeting held for the overall design review of Sinopec Great Wall Energy Chemical’s 800,000 tons/year coal-to-olefins upgrade demonstration project

From January 27 to 30, the overall design review meeting for the 800,000 tons per year coal-to-olefins upgrade demonstration project of Sinopec Great Wall Energy Chemical (Inner Mongolia) Co., Ltd. was held in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. The meeting adopted a combination of review sessions and on-site inspections to conduct a comprehensive and systematic professional evaluation of the project’s overall design. Relevant departments of Sinopec Group, Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical, Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd., Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd., and Sinopec Project Management Company – a total of 5 entities – attended the meeting. The conference invited 37 experts from organizations such as Tianchen Engineering Company, Shanghai Engineering Company, Guangzhou Engineering Company, the General Station for Engineering Quality Supervision, and Nanjing Engineering Company to form an evaluation panel, which conducted a thorough review of the project’s overall design and issued evaluation comments. Sinopec’s 800,000-ton/year coal-to-olefins upgrading demonstration project in Dalu has been approved for construction by Sinopec Corporation through the document titled \"Approval on the Feasibility Study Report for Sinopec Inner Mongolia Energy Chemicals’ 800,000-ton/year Coal-to-Olefins Upgrading Demonstration Project\" (Sinopec Corp. Document No. [2025]4). The project involves the construction of a 2.26-million-ton/year coal-to-methanol plant (including gasification, purification, methanol synthesis, sulfur recovery, etc.), a 2.26-million-ton/year MTO plant (including OCC), 350,000 tons/year of polyethylene, 450,000 tons/year of polypropylene, 100,000 tons/year of EVA/LDPE, as well as supporting utilities and auxiliary facilities such as air separation units and IGCC thermal power plants.
