Recently, China National Chemical Corporation Tianchen received the award letter for the Sabic ethylene oxide catalyst project, thereby entering into another important partnership with PETROKEMYA. This project aims to build a new production facility for ethylene oxide catalysts with an annual output of 4,000 tons, including various units such as those for washing the catalyst carriers and drying them, as well as the associated utility systems. Ethylene oxide catalysts are the technical core of the ethylene oxide industry chain; they directly determine the production efficiency, product quality, and energy consumption of manufacturing facilities, and represent the advanced technological level and innovation capacity in the petrochemical sector. Tianchen Company possesses strong technical expertise in catalyst preparation and extensive project experience; through long-term cooperation with its clients, it has established good relationships and a high level of mutual trust. In this bidding process, the company carried out thorough preparation, maintained efficient communication, and provided clear technical explanations, which enabled it to stand out and gain the owner’s approval. PETROKEMYA is a leading large-scale integrated petrochemical company in Saudi Arabia, and it is also the flagship enterprise of the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). Leveraging Saudi Arabia’s abundant oil and gas resources as well as its well-developed industrial infrastructure, it operates world-class production facilities for ethylene and propylene, as well as for downstream products such as polyethylene and polypropylene. This enables it to establish a complete product portfolio that includes olefins, polyolefins, and various polymer materials. This project represents the ninth collaboration between Tianchen Company and PETROKEMYA since 2015; prior to this, the company has delivered 7 projects to them of high quality, including the largest MTBE project in the world with an annual production capacity of 1 million tons. As the company’s first catalyst project in Saudi Arabia, this project will facilitate the introduction of the core manufacturing technologies for ethylene oxide catalysts to Saudi Arabia, enabling the local production of key materials used in the country’s petrochemical industry. It will also help to develop a complete industrial chain for ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol, and polyester in the region, thereby contributing to the upgrading of Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical industry toward higher standards and greater sophistication. This project is in line with Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” goals regarding industrial diversification. It not only represents an important advancement and breakthrough for Tianchen Company in the field of catalysts but will also further strengthen cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia in the petrochemical sector. It holds great significance for the company’s efforts to expand its presence in Saudi Arabia’s high-end engineering market and to support the high-quality development of the local industry.
