Recently, the highly anticipated 3 million tons per year PTA project at the Jiujiang branch reached a key milestone. The bidding process for Phase 1 of the engineering foundation design for its main facility has been completed, with Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. (SEI) emerging as the top bidder. This marks a solid and crucial step forward for this key petrochemical project in Jiangxi Province on its journey to establish a complete closed-loop industry chain of \"refining – aromatics – PTA – PET\". Project Overview: Creating the “heart” of a 33.2-billion-yuan aromatics industry chain. The Jiujiang Petrochemical’s 3 million tons per year PTA project is a key component of this integrated aromatics industry chain project with a total investment of around 33.2 billion yuan; the agreement for this project was officially signed in July 2025. The project is located in the Jiujiang Petrochemical Industrial Park at No. 228 Binjiang East Road, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, adjacent to existing refining and chemical processing facilities. It can make full use of infrastructure such as docks, pipe racks, and utility systems, thereby effectively reducing logistics and energy consumption costs. Upon completion, the project will, together with the project producing 1.5 million tons of aromatics per year and the project producing 3.76 million tons of PET per year, form a complete integrated refining and chemical industry chain, creating a closed-loop industry chain from crude oil to polyester materials. This holds great strategic significance for improving the regional industrial structure and enhancing the overall competitiveness of enterprises.
