I would like to ask for advice: there is a Class C factory building, and outside the building there is a Class C storage tank buried underground with a capacity of less than 15 cubic meters. In accordance with building code requirements, the exterior wall of the factory building adjacent to the storage tank serves as a fire wall, which meets the requirements. So now the storage tank is only 9 meters away from another Class C warehouse – is that sufficient to meet the requirements? Can a Class C warehouse with a fire wall on its adjacent exterior wall meet the requirements?
According to clause GB50016-3.4.6, regarding the distance between a factory’s auxiliary equipment and adjacent factories, refer to 3.4.1 (it is understood that adjacent factories must meet firewall standards; the dimensions can be adjusted as indicated in the notes)
1. First, there is a question: what are class C \"storage tanks\" buried directly underground used for? Have they indeed been classified as class C tanks? If it is a Class C storage tank buried underground, how should the distance between this buried tank and the Class C factory building be determined? According to Note 5 in Table 4.2.1 of the Building Code, the spacing can be reduced by half when buried, i.e., 12m * 50% = 6m. But regarding what you said, that \"according to building code requirements, the exterior wall of the building adjacent to the storage tank serves as a fire wall, which meets the requirements,\" which regulation does this refer to? 2. According to Article 3.3.7 of the Building Code, intermediate storage tanks of Class C in workshops shall not exceed 5 m3 in volume. 3. Discuss further with the engineering team regarding this 15m3 underground device: what is its actual purpose? Can it not be classified as a storage tank? Are there any other functions it can perform? Could it be considered a device used in industrial processes, such as a metering tank? Reconciliation? Precipitation? In this case, it is not merely a storage function; it can be considered as part of the factory building, in line with the equipment located outside the building. The fire separation distance is calculated based on the outdoor equipment, and a firewall is constructed on the side of the warehouse that adjoins it. If there are any issues with the above, let’s discuss them together again.
The requirements can be met, with no restrictions on fire separation distances
