A flow-limiting orifice plate has been added; it is used to pressurize the backup filter when it is put into use, thereby preventing large pressure fluctuations from causing cascading shutdowns.
Compressors all have oil pressure protection mechanisms, but it seems they also come with a delay feature. The purpose of this is to prevent the protection mechanism from activating when the pressure drops to a low level during switching to a backup unit; however, the delay can be used to avoid such activation
First, open this valve to fill it with liquid; once the pressure is balanced, proceed with the switch, ensuring that no significant fluctuations occur during the switching process
When the valve is switched under air control conditions, the high-flow oil can overwhelm the filter element; fill the filter with oil first before making the switch
I learned from this; I hadn’t paid much attention to the function of this pipeline before.
The three-way valves used for your two filters are a necessary design choice; if each filter had its own inlet and outlet valves, there would be no need for three-way valves, and thus no need to add this additional pipeline
I think it’s because the backup filter is filled with liquid as a reserve, to ensure that switching can take place at any time. A pressure-balanced side line was installed to prevent liquid expansion
