Can a heat storage material store cold energy?!

A heat storage material can store heat, but can it also store cold? I would appreciate advice from experts!
It seems there are some project examples.
The original methods of ice storage that I’ve seen – ice storage by wealthy families in ancient times, and ice storage by coastal areas in modern times – involve taking ice from winter and storing it for use in the summer.

It’s possible in theory. It’s all heat anyway; it’s just that cold storage and excessive heat may differ in terms of process design.
