If drawing, start by referring to the standards; if working on a plan, consult the process design manual
You should read books based on the type of equipment you are designing; for example, if it’s related to ammonia synthesis, then look for books on ammonia synthesis design in order to learn process design. Find some more chemical process design manuals, or the process design manuals of our institution, to learn about system design.
In conjunction with the project, borrow the project drawings done by seniors in the archive to learn more*.
