When flanging pipes and equipment together, is it sufficient as long as the pressure rating of the flanges on the pipes and equipment matches, and there’s no need to pay too much attention to the material of each flange?
That’s more or less what it means; as long as it isn’t corroded
First, consider the pound rating consistency of the flanges, and second, consider their corrosion resistance.
For flanges of the same grade, the number of openings on them should be the same; only in this way can two flanges of the same grade be connected using bolts.
Given that the weight class is the main consideration, our units consist of many made of carbon steel on one side and chromium-molybdenum steel on the other.
For flanges, it is necessary to use the same material; if corrosion is a concern, different materials can be used provided that temperature and strength requirements are met. The number of openings on the flange must be determined in accordance with relevant standards. There are sometimes differences between pipe flanges and equipment flanges
Flanges of the same pound rating can be connected; the material depends mainly on the requirements of the fluid medium.
Try to keep it consistent; in the end, it’s not just the pounds that matter.
