Seeking advice on exhaust pipe design issues

Hello, teachers! On the on-site equipment, there are vent pipes used during startup and shutdown operations (for example, venting is required behind the tower during the temperature increase of catalysts in the ammonia synthesis unit; no venting is needed under normal conditions). Is a flame arrester installed at the end of these vent pipes in accordance with the regulations? (Our facility does not have one; at the end, there is simply an elbow that changes the direction of the airflow.) What I would really like to ask is how your company deals with the combustible gases that remain in the vent pipe after the venting process is completed (our company doesn’t handle this; we simply close the vent valve once venting is done). But I imagine that the vent valve is located about 15 meters away from the end of the vent pipe, so there is a considerable amount of gas remaining in that section of the pipe. Moreover, since the end of the pipe is directly connected to the atmosphere, this poses a safety risk. Thank you!
