The technology suppliers, together with the construction party, requested the design institute to develop a equipment layout plan. Although many of the technology suppliers have existing production facilities of similar type, the construction party’s factory space is relatively small, so it is not possible to simply apply those existing designs. The design institute prepared a plan, which was criticized by the technical supplier, who said that it was not feasible at all. However, someone pointed out that the equipment layout plan (especially that of the main reactor) should be provided by the technical supplier; the supplier has an obligation to redesign the equipment layout based on the existing factory premises of the client. Otherwise, the technical solutions he provides would be incomplete. The design institute then refines the plan using the layout provided by the technical supplier. Now that the technical supplier refuses to provide such a plan, the design institute has to carry out the work itself, and when something goes wrong, they are asked why they don’t come to the site to take a look. There are many similar operating facilities, and the client doesn’t have much knowledge in this area. The question is: who is actually responsible for developing the equipment layout plan, and is there any basis for this decision? Can the design institute then accuse the technical supplier of inaction in front of the project owner?

In addition to providing PID, PFD, process specifications, equipment lists, and design data, technology suppliers must also supply preliminary layout drawings, which serve as a basis for design institutes to carry out the engineering design. :D took a look at your situation. You can consider the design institute, the equipment manufacturer, and your own company. The three parties should sit down and talk. According to the rules, it should be the manufacturer’s own technical team.
