When can the venting of combustible gases be done using only a vent tower (although a flare is obviously better)? I checked the \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Oil and Gas Engineering Projects\" (GB/T50183), the \"Code for Design of Fuel Gas Systems and Flammable Gas Emission Systems in Petrochemical Enterprises\" (SH3009), as well as API521 – none of these standards provide clear guidelines on this matter. They only mention the determination of the vent volume and the calculation related to vent pipes and flares, but do not specify whether vent pipes or flares should be used

The vent pipe is used only for emergency emissions; there are no emissions under normal conditions, and the amount of emission is small when it does occur

It’s not illegal to emit methane at a discharge point, right? Natural gas systems have safety vent valves anyway.
