Question: In hydraulic air charging stations, what is the substance with special properties that is used in the hydraulic system? Will it not affect the quality of CNG?
The fluid used in hydraulic systems is ordinary hydraulic oil; there are many different grades available on the market, with brands such as Kunlun and Great Wall offering their own respective grades; Generally, during the CNG compression process, the hydraulic system is separated from the cylinders, and natural gas does not come into contact with hydraulic oil during compression ; After being pressurized by the oil pump, the hydraulic fluid is transmitted to the piston head, which then compresses the process medium
Hydraulic gas filling stations come in two types: one is of the hydraulic push-type. In this type, the hydraulic oil comes into contact with CNG; theoretically, oil and gas do not mix, and special imported hydraulic oil is used. In practice, however, this special hydraulic oil comes into direct contact with natural gas, which contaminates precision devices such as valves within the processing system as well as downstream equipment, potentially affecting their proper operation. This will gradually be phased out. One type is the hydraulic piston type; in this case, the hydraulic oil does not come into contact with CNG, so ordinary hydraulic oil can be used. The type of oil is determined according to the manufacturer’s requirements; options such as 46# anti-wear hydraulic oil can be used.
