At 360K, with points A and B lying on a straight line, it can be understood that at this temperature and under 1 atm pressure, adding 70% benzene and 30% toluene will result in everything being in liquid form. Adding 85% benzene and 15% toluene will turn everything into a gas, is that correct?

Further inquiry: A vertical line is drawn at position 0.7 of the lower axis, with points A and B. Can it be understood that all the points vertically below point A are in the liquid phase, with nothing in the gas phase? A gas phase and a liquid phase mix only between A and B; beyond point B, it is entirely gas phase with no liquid phase. I just can’t understand whether the gas phase means there’s nothing there

The txy diagram shows the thermal state corresponding to a certain temperature and composition; it is also possible to determine the temperature from the composition and thermal state, or to determine the composition from the temperature and thermal state – all of these are feasible.
It should be a relationship of ≥ and ≤: everything above the dew point line is in gaseous state, everything below the bubble point line is in liquid state; it’s not necessarily the case on the line itself. The composition of each phase is determined solely by the equilibrium temperature, and is independent of the overall composition
