The issue is that the purity of isobutane obtained in the alkylation deisobutanization tower doesn’t increase and remains around 60%. The tower pressure is 0.45, the temperature is 105 degrees, the reflux temperature is 38°, the feed volume is 120 cubic meters, and the reflux volume is 90 cubic meters. Currently, the purity at the top of the tower is low; the distillate contains 20% isobutane. I hope experienced experts can provide some guidance. The chart shows the operating parameters from a few days ago; since the purity couldn’t be increased, it was decided that the high reflux volume was the cause, so it was reduced
What is the composition of the feed? What is the desired composition of the output? What is the current composition of the output?
A brief explanation of the feed composition and the top product yield will make it clear
It would be best to attach a DCS diagram so that everyone can help analyze it in detail for you!
It’s just that they aren’t separated. First, confirm that the instruments are functioning properly, then compare the data with the design parameters to see if the operating conditions are identical or similar. If they are, first check whether the design calculations are correct; if the design is fine, then examine whether there are any issues with the components inside the tower
Isobutane is continuously added at the top of the tower, with more than 20% isobutane at the bottom; the purity of isobutane at the top of the tower is 60%, while that of n-butane is over 30%
The reaction products are isobutane at 55% and n-butane at 34%; these constitute the feed to the isobutane removal tower
