Concentric reducers are used on vertical pipes, while eccentric reducers are used on horizontal pipes – is my understanding correct?
It’s basically correct, but the most important thing is to consider how to remove air and address the drainage issue.
It is also possible to place the eccentricity in the vertical pipe, though it does not look good; unless material savings are the goal, vertical pipes are generally designed to be concentric. Whether the top or bottom should be at an equal level due to the eccentricity depends on the specific design requirements
Not necessarily, right? Concentric is used on both vertical/horizontal pipes, while eccentric seems to be mostly used on horizontal pipes. You can take a look at previous posts about the bizarre designs of process pipelines; being bizarre doesn’t mean such designs can’t be used, and some images in other posts also show the use of reducing fittings.
