Raney nickel is very dangerous; explosion accidents have occurred in many companies in China, and most of them were caused by a lack of proper attention. If you lack experience, it is recommended that you seek relevant information, especially from those who work with Raney nickel hydrogenation catalysts or use such catalysts.
Care must indeed be taken when using Reney nickel; it would of course be better to use supported nickel (which does not catch fire when exposed to air). If possible, replace the catalyst
