For the inlet pipe of the safety valve, it should be ensured that the pressure drop in the inlet pipe during discharge is less than 3% of the set pressure of the safety valve. For safety valves installed on pipelines, they should be located in areas where pressure is relatively stable and at a certain distance from sources of pressure fluctuations. **The current standard, ‘Specifications for the Design of Pipeline Layouts in Chemical Plants’ HG/T 20549, specifies the minimum distance required between safety valves and such sources of pressure fluctuations in Table 1. API 520, \"Pressure Relief Devices for Refineries – Size, Selection, and Installation, Part II: Installation,\" specifies that the minimum distance between a safety valve and the source of fluctuating pressure should be 10DN.
