Help: Determining the size of a side exhaust hood? At present, centrifuges with top discharge require local exhaust ventilation. The diameter of the centrifuge is 1000 mm, and its side length is 1500 mm; a side exhaust hood is needed. How should the dimensions of this exhaust hood be determined? Are there any standards that can be referred to?
It’s a flexible connection; but how is the size of the cover determined?
The size and diameter of the exhaust opening on the casing are related to the rotation speed; for the PS1000 centrifuge with a rotation speed of 1200, the dimensions of the exhaust opening are 500X300 mm.
How could it be related to the rotation speed? The centrifuge operates in a sealed environment, with discharge at the top; local ventilation is required during discharge to prevent the evaporation of organic solvents
Are you an air intake or an exhaust duct? Generally, the exhaust duct size is determined by the volume of air to be exhausted; the wind speed is taken as 12–18, with 20 being the maximum recommended value. If noise reduction is required, a silencer should be installed.
Consider wind speeds of 1 to 3 m
This size is related to the size of the exhaust port (discharge port) when the centrifuge discharges material; it generally should not be smaller than that port. Another factor is the exhaust volume, which must not be less than the maximum instantaneous amount corresponding to the partial pressure of organic substances at the time of discharge through the opening. When the exhaust outlet is far from the exit, the wind speed at the exhaust outlet should be as high as possible, around 3 m/s; when the distance is small, the wind speed can be lower.
