The function of leaving a bevel edge with a root gap in welds

I would like to ask the experts: What is the purpose of leaving a root bevel and a blunt edge in a weld joint? Is a root margin required at all areas where grooves are made?
Don’t use a current as high as that, which creates obtuse angles; otherwise there will be leakage upon contact, and the weld will be larger.
Leaving a dull edge is to prevent burn-through.
