What are the applications of Aspen in the field of environmental protection?

I used to work in a chemical engineering design firm, but now I have switched to working on environmental protection projects, mainly focusing on the treatment of hazardous waste. I’m not sure what other uses there are for the Aspen software that was used in this field before; could someone with expertise please answer?
