What’s it like to study the major in petrochemical production technology?

It’s a good major. That is, oil refining (and of course, natural gas processing as well). Employment is mainly found in oil field operation areas, oil refineries, or fertilizer plants. During my university years, I was mainly involved in courses such as organic and inorganic chemistry, principles of chemical engineering, and petrochemical processing. However, as someone with 5 years of experience in the oil industry, I would suggest the following: 1. If there are other options available, try to avoid majors related to oil and petrochemicals, as they offer limited employment prospects and low incomes (although people often exaggerate the high earnings in this field; unless you come from an influential family or can get a position within such families, your income will be modest, but it’s enough to get by) ； 2. Life is monotonous and dull; in oil fields or refineries, the area is limited, the work is extremely boring, and over time, there’s less and less passion in life ； 3. If you are facing re-employment, you will obviously feel somewhat disconnected from society.
