How to reduce water consumption for filter cake washing

In many industrial applications, solid-liquid separation of materials and the washing of filter cakes are involved. Different filtration and washing methods result in varying efficiencies. Those with experience, please share your insights: for the same amount of water, what kind of equipment or washing methods yield the best results? For example, methods such as centrifugal filtration, plate and frame filtration, and diaphragm pressure filtration – which one results in less wastewater discharge?
Personally, I think diaphragm pressure filtration provides better washing results, but it is prone to clogging with sticky materials
Generally, pressure filtration is the most water-saving method; centrifugal washing can remove around 80% of the contaminants each time. It ultimately depends on which method is suitable for your specific process
A diaphragm filter press, also known as a diaphragmatic filter press, is a type of filter press in which an elastic membrane is installed between the filter plate and the filter cloth. During use, once feeding is complete, a high-pressure fluid or gas medium can be injected into the diaphragm plate; this causes the entire diaphragm to bulge and exert pressure on the filter cake, thereby enabling further dehydration of the same – which is what is commonly referred to as press filtration.
Select the appropriate filtration and separation method based on the properties of the material. The amount of washing water used is mainly related to the way in which each batch of washing water is utilized; for example, the second batch of washing water may be used for the first wash, and so on.
