Now we are carrying out a modification to the liquid chlorine tank by adding a pair of transfer pumps on-site, so that in the event of a leak from the storage tank, the liquid chlorine can be transferred into a backup tank. Currently, the elevation of the support points for the 5 tanks is around 1.2 meters, and the transfer rate is 25 m3/h. Several manufacturers were consulted, and all of them required that the installation height of the transfer pump be around -2.5 meters. I would like to ask everyone: are your liquid chlorine transfer pumps installed by digging pits? If my flow rate drops to 10 m3/h, and I add 3 transfer pumps (2 in operation and 1 as a backup), do I still need to dig pits? It seems that the net positive suction head of the liquid chlorine pump isn’t that high; is such a large head difference really necessary? Also, must this transfer pump be installed inside the warehouse? Can it be left outside?
When selecting a pump, the worst-case scenario must be taken into account; that is, the pump must still be able to deliver liquid even when the liquid level in the tank is very low. The support point for your tank is at a height of 1.2 meters, and adding the height of the supports gives another 0.3 meters. At the lowest liquid level, the liquid is at about 1.5 meters above the ground. If the pump is installed on the ground, its inlet is at about 0.3 meters above the ground. As a result, the effective net positive suction head available will be very small, and it’s generally difficult for a pump to meet these requirements. …………It definitely won’t work to press the pump on the ground; our liquid chlorine transfer pump was modified later by digging a pool about 3 meters deep :)
