Whether medium-pressure steam is equipped with a pressure reducing valve depends on the data sheet provided by the process control system; if there is a need in the process, the control valve will have a pressure reducing function. The flow rate regulated by the control valve is related to the diameter of the pipe downstream of the valve, and its proper operation is linked to the temperature at the top of the stripping tower – calculations are required for this purpose by the process team.
