Dear colleagues: As shown in the figure below, after the low-pressure condensate from our company enters the flash tank, the flash vapor generated at the top of the tank (LLS, 0.2 Kg/cm2.g, 150 degrees Celsius, 12,500 Kg/hr) is converted into condensed water through a water condenser. The amount of circulating water used is 478,600 Kg/hr. I would like to ask my colleagues: are there any good ways to make use of this flash vapor (LLS) in order to save circulating water? Thank you.

It’s a considerable amount; this can be used to power lithium bromide chillers for cooling, or to supply heat to the entire facility directly.

Vapor from flashing is generally saturated, right? Is the flash vapor superheated by that much? I have indeed been involved in compression and recovery projects of a similar scale, but the flash vapor was near saturated.
Preheating the material is the simplest, safest, and least costly method.
There are many such technologies; common ones include steam jet pumps and compression heat pumps for recovering low-pressure steam. The challenge lies not in the technology itself, but in how to integrate it with your process – that is, where the generated steam will be used
1. Determine the destination of the condensate return water at the backend – is it to be reused? 2. Use a complete set of equipment for condensate recovery to capture the flash vapor. 3. If self-generated steam is used, the recovered condensate can be used as source water to replenish the system. 4. If external gas supply is used, a hot-water lithium bromide chiller unit can be selected to improve the chilled water system, or a turbine can be used to generate electricity for locations such as office buildings. 5. The condensed water after use, due to its low temperature, can be fed into the circulating water system as a water source. 6. Due to its relatively high temperature, the condensate water can be used in the system for preheating or as insulation for the material coils in the tank area.
