Can galvanized steel pipes be welded on-site? What should be done if the galvanized coating is damaged? How were the galvanized pipes you encountered installed?
Special equipment cannot be welded directly; at the very least, the welding area must be cleaned. It is quite common in steel structures: they are welded directly and then coated with zinc-rich paint. Of course, welders suffer; this stuff is highly toxic, and its fumes can make one cry.
It can be welded, by removing the galvanized layer around the weld area before welding. After the pressure testing is completed, the surface is painted for rust prevention.
It can be welded; after welding, the surface is polished and then coated with galvanized paint.
