The floating roof tanks in our storage area are equipped with 24/7 flame arrestor breather valves. During safety inspections, the static electricity bonding wires on the valve discs are often checked – is there any standard governing this practice? I hope those who are familiar with research can provide some guidance. On the positive and negative pressure valve discs of our breather valves, there are static discharge connections to the valve housing; in some cases, such connections are only present on the negative pressure valve disc. I would like to know what the standard requirements are, as it’s difficult to determine whether these connections are necessary and which valve discs require them. I checked the standards related to breather valves for storage tanks, but no clear instructions were provided, which is quite confusing.
