The dry gas seal of GE compressors is a non-contact seal that is typically used to protect the compressor bearings. When the dry gas seal leaks, the gas inside the compressor escapes, causing the system pressure to drop. Free gases may also contain toxic or flammable substances, which can pose hazards to human safety and the environment. To prevent hazards caused by leaks, the dry gas seals of compressors are usually equipped with safety valves. A safety valve can detect changes in pressure inside the compressor, and it opens automatically when the pressure exceeds a preset value, allowing gas to be released in order to reduce the pressure. In this scenario, the pressure of the gas leaking from the compressor’s dry gas seal is 0.1 Mpa; without a safety valve, this pressure could continue to rise, further increasing the risk of leakage. Therefore, installing a safety valve can ensure the safety of the system, and its setting pressure of 6.5 Mpa is sufficient to prevent the system from experiencing overpressure.
