There is some confusion at present regarding the definitions of plants and their storage tanks; I would appreciate some guidance from those with more experience. If there is a chemical plant that produces only one type of product, then does such a plant include units for preparation, polymerization, post-treatment, etc.? Do things like circulating water stations and air compression stations count as part of the plant? Then there are the storage tanks for the equipment; if the entire plant produces only this one product, do the storage tanks installed in that case belong to the storage tanks of this set of equipment, and are they also part of the plant’s tank area? Can the unit’s storage tank include loading and unloading facilities?
In the chemical industry, a plant usually refers to a collection of equipment and units used to produce specific products. The preparation unit, polymerization unit, post-treatment unit, etc., which you mentioned, are all part of this set of equipment. Units that provide auxiliary support, such as circulating water stations and air compression stations, are important for the production process, but are generally not considered to be direct components of that production facility. As for the unit storage tanks, they refer to storage units that serve specific production units directly, used to hold raw materials, intermediate products, or finished products. The storage tanks within the plant area are generally used for storing raw materials and intermediate products; these tanks have a limited capacity, which is usually sufficient to meet the needs of continuous production for 7 to 15 days ； 4. The tank areas throughout the plant are generally located away from the processing units, and near the docks or road-based loading/unloading areas ； 5. The storage tanks of the facility are generally located away from loading and unloading facilities, mainly for safety reasons.
